Tight-Fitting RPE
Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) can't protect the wearer if it leaks. A major cause of leaks is poor fit. Tight-fitting RPE is only works correctly when it fit the wearer's face well. There are of course many challenges including face shapes and size to consider so, each wearer needs to be provided with the correct RPE that matches their face in order to provide the expected protection.
Fit Testing demonstrates the effectiveness of the face mask to allow you to select the correct one for each individual.
RPE fit testing should only ever be conducted by a competent person therefore you should take the necessary steps to ensure that the person who carries out the fit test is appropriately trained and experienced.
